Yellowstone National Park

17 September 2010 the day through Yelloowstone departing Livingston at sunrise.  A quick photo trip of the day.
The Livingstone Motel did not look much but the Inn keepers were keen wildlife photographer and had displays throughout the hallways and units.  a very clean and tidy establishment.

Farming on the way to the park

Village at the northern entrance

Entrance gates

One of a small herd of Elk in a creek next to a picnic area.

In the thermal area of Mammoth Hot Springs.  Looks like the monkey with is mouth open.

Much of the area was an old thermal site now not very active.

This Bison was on a mission, walking off on his own from a large herd .

I think I will start with a roll in the dust.

Ah! that is better.

Now give the horns a polish.

A quick rinse in the stream and I am ready to meet the rubber neckers.

You may look and take pictures but I have right of way!  Just don't anoy me.

The bulls are unpredictable but to poke them in the balls is sure to vent one ton of anger.

And the cows are not much use for a rodeo cow milking contest.

Volcanic lava layer above glacial gravels in a gorge area.

Example of many waterfalls

Fire is part of the cycle.

Autumn foliage adds colour to river flats and hills.

This Red fox was hunting in grassland

A view to the Teton Range in the west as evening draws near leaving the park.

The end of a very good day.
Although not photographed  a pack of wolves were seen moving through woodland and a coyote glimpsed crossing the road.

  1. Hi Mum & Dad
Great photo's not sure if needed to see a bisons bulls! looks like you are seeing lots of wildlife. Got your e-mail, the weather has been crazy around the country since you left but here in sc it has been really nice, libby checked tabledowns after earthquake and it was fine, snow down south but nothing but lovely day's here abit of wind but needed to dry everything out, the grass is starting to grow and daffodils out spring is well on its way. North lsland had storms as well with lots of power out. Nothing else new here cat still mad, dog still a loose unit, fixed our post from earthquake, and I won a temuka/Geraldine bowls competition the other day I didn't relise at the time but apparently it is a big deal (according to those in the know). Well thats it from us hope you still having a good time.
